Car Donation News Now Using Disqus Comments

Regular readers of this blog will know I've been experimenting with a number of comment forms for my posts, and I think I've finally settled on Disqus. Facebook Comments haven't been as easy or as social as I would have liked, and for some reason, the Google+ comments box I liked completely disappeared during an edit of my page's CSS. How it happened, I don't know, and a weekend of trying to get it back hasn't helped. So, I'm settling on Disqus for a number of reasons. One, it offers a flexible sign-in...I've allowed comments from "guests" who aren't registered with Disqus or who don't want to post with one of their social profiles. Two, it's a really sleek design, although a little slow to load. It's my hope that visitors are reading the entire post, so by the time the comments box loads, you'll be in the middle of the article and hopefully thinking of something you can say! Three, it actually offers a "sponsored content" model that works for small publishers like myself. See the "Around the Web" Links at the bottom? Yep. those are sponsored stories that are hopefully interesting and appealing to you. Maybe it'll bring in some additional (well, just some) revenue to help us out at Dude, Sustainable! Leave a comment in the box and let me know what you think! Robert Nelson is blogger-in-chief at Car Donation News. Find us on Google+ or on Facebook.

Car Donation in San Francisco - 3 Places to Donate Your Car

As part of our ongoing effort to link consumers who want to donate their car with organization who will benefit from and make good use of your donated vehicle, today, we're covering three great organizations for car donation in San Francisco.

1. The San Francisco SPCA - The San Francisco SPCA accepts donated vehicles to support their ongoing work for humane animal control. The San Francisco SPCA's mission is:
...to save and protect animals, to provide care and treatment, to advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond.
If you love animals and support humane animal control, consider donating your car to the San Francisco SPCA.

2. KQED Public Radio - In my house, we're big fans of NPR, and KQED is one of the nation's flagship NPR programmers. They run some of the best, nationally-syndicated content from NPR as well as produce and distribute award winning shows like "Forum." Northern California Public Broadcasting (NCPB):

...provides consistently high quality public media that informs, educates, entertains and engages from a Northern California perspective.
NCPB delivers television, radio, internet and education network content that makes people think, feel and explore new ideas. Our programming and services reflect the value we place on human dignity, lifelong learning and the power of ideas, and on the importance of community service and civic participation.
To donate your car to KQED, see: http://www.donatingiseasy.org/car-donation-kqed-san-francisco-charity.html

3. San Francisco Make-a-Wish Foundation: The SF Make-a-Wish Foundation:
grants the wishes of children facing life-threatening medical conditions. When you make acar donation, proceeds from the sale of your vehicle donation through the Wheels For Wishes 501(c)(3) charity benefits your local Make-A-Wish®. Since 1980, Make-A-Wish as a whole has granted the wishes of more than 250,000 children around the world.
Your used car donations help these non-profits and foundations add to their endowment and continue to provide the community with valuable services that otherwise wouldn't be available!

About Car Donation News

Hi there! Among the decisions you have to make when buying a new car, donating your old one may not seem like such a big deal. However, there are many charities to which you can donate you car who will turn it around and make it an asset to their organization. For you, it's a tax write-off on the value of your car, up to $400. For them, it's a lifeline of funding that they can use for social good.

This site aims to periodically discuss the number of places where you can donate your car, and in doing so, hopes to help you make an informed decision about the donation process, one that fits with your social values and goals.

This site is sponsored by the Dude, Sustainable! group. We run a number of websites in niche areas, and we're hoping that this will be one you will visit from time to time. Thanks, and hope to see more of you!
